Dr Ed Turner

I’m Curator of Insects at the University Museum of Zoology, Cambridge and head the Insect Ecology Group in the Department of Zoology.

My research investigates ways that ecosystems can be managed to benefit biodiversity and associated ecosystem functions, with a focus on large-scale experimental approaches.

In SE Asia, I collaborate with the oil palm industry to develop more sustainable cultivation practices. In the UK, I work with the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire Wildlife Trust to investigate ways that fragmented reserves can be managed to support butterfly species in the face of climate change.

Our group also works with schools to investigate more about the biodiversity found in school environments. I’m very keen to help advise on projects related to biodiversity and human interactions with the natural world.
